BSPR Awards Committee: Applications for ACCEA higher awards (2011 round)
The ACCEA applications process for clinical excellence awards in England and Wales will open for on-line application on 1st September 2010. The process is similar to previous years.
The BSPR is recognised as a Specialist Society that can support applications. The BSPR Awards Committee will consider any applications from members of the BSPR and rank these in order to be able to provide supporting statements. This year, the BSPR is entitled to support 6 applicants for Bronze Awards, 3 applicants for Silver Awards, and 2 applicants for Gold awards.
The Awards Committee consists of members of the BSPR Executive who are not themselves applying for higher awards, together with a senior member (higher award holder), a junior member, a representative of the ESPR (currently Dr Veronica Donoghue from Dublin), and a lay member. The Committee is jointly chaired by myself and Karen Bradshaw.
We encourage anyone considering an application to submit it to the BSPR and to the Royal College of Radiologists. Applications should be received by Karen Bradshaw (Karen.Bradshaw@wales.nhs.uk) by 1st October 2010 in order to be considered for ranking in the 2011 round.
Our nominations are also sent to the Royal College of Radiologists and are taken into account by the College in determining its own rankings.
We wish to support as many Paediatric Radiologists as possible, to make sure that our speciality is fairly represented in higher awards, but we are clearly not able to support every applicant. However, the BSPR has only a small role in this process; BSPR support does not guarantee a successful application, but nor is it essential for success.
There are separate processes for Scotland and Northern Ireland. The BSPR Awards Committee would be happy to review applications from consultants based in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Please contact me or Karen Bradshaw if you have any queries about this process.
NB: APPLICATIONS SHOULD BE SENT TO: Karen.Bradshaw@wales.nhs.uk
APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 1ST OCTOBER 2010.
