Dr Karl Johnston replaces Dr A. Sprigg as Convenor.
Head Ultrasound – Dr A. Sprigg had still not received any
more feedback from the RCPCH or British Association of Perinatal
Medicine. Dr Sprigg contacted the ultrasound group of the Royal
College of Radiologists, and they are to get in touch with the RCPCH
about the guidelines. It was also suggested that the British Medical
Ultrasound Society should also be approached. Dr Alan Sprigg is
to write an article for Radiology Now on Head Ultrasound Standards.

head injury. There is also a review being carried out by the Children’s
Surgical Forum of the R.C.S. on NICE guidelines. Dr K. McHugh is
to write to the RCR about the problems implementing the NICE guidelines

RCR SIGS Meeting
Dr Karl Johnston attended a recent meeting of SIG’s on focussed
training. Trainees would be able to identify a subspecialty early
on in their training. They would get 18 months chosen subspecialty
training over 5 years and less time in other subspecialties. This
proposal was supported by SIGS members.
-
Citations for Clinical Excellence Awards
Dr Luck was concerned that very few paediatric radiologists had
clinical excellence or higher awards and felt that BSPR may be able
to do more to support members in their application for higher awards.
Dr K. McHugh has written citations for BSPR members but has not
had feedback on outcome. It was decided that Dr McHugh would write
to the RCR awards representative and ask for guidance on this matter.

include a recommendation to document a reason if CT brain was not
performed.

in MBUR5 need updating or amending.
